Catan (formerly known as The Settlers of Catan) is one of the most popular and highly acclaimed board games in the world. This family-friendly economic strategy game is loved for its exceptional replayability and for perfectly balancing planning, trading, and a touch of luck. In Catan, players take on the roles of settlers arriving on a newly discovered island. Each player leads their own colony, expanding it by building roads, settlements, and cities on a modular, ever-changing game board. To grow and develop, colonies must gather natural resources such as wood, brick, grain, sheep, and ore.

Success depends on smart placement of settlements and roads to ensure a steady and balanced flow of resources. When you have a surplus of certain materials, you can trade with other players, exchanging resources through negotiation. Trading often becomes the heart of the game, turning each round into a lively marketplace full of strategy and interaction.

The goal of the game is to be the first player to reach 10 victory points.

At the beginning of the game, the board is randomly assembled from terrain tiles, and players place their initial settlements and roads. Each turn starts with a roll of two dice. All players then collect resources from terrain tiles that match the rolled number and where they have settlements or cities.

During your turn, you may:

• build roads, settlements, or cities,
• purchase development cards,
• trade resources with other players or with the bank.
